This past summer, my family and I visited our first Topgolf. It was my husband’s idea and we all rolled our eyes when he suggested it. None of us golf – that’s something Pap does on Thursdays with a bunch of his retired buddies. We didn’t really know what to expect but figured it involved lots of standing around and chasing little white balls. OMG! Topgolf is NOT plaid slacks and driving caps – it’s AWESOME! This is a next-level entertainment experience. It’s a high-tech, high-energy good time for all ages.
What is Topgolf?
Topgolf is a multi-level entertainment destination. It’s part golf, part restaurant, and all party! Groups can reserve a bay for play while fabulous food and drinks are served directly to them.
How Do You Play?
You don’t have to be a pro to play. Anyone can have a blast at this high-tech, driving range-like attraction. You score points by hitting micro-chipped balls at a giant target in the outfield. Your ball is tracked as you let it fly, calculating your score based on your distance from the center of the bullseye. The closer you are, the more points you earn!
How Does It Work?
If you’re planning on going with a group, contact the events team prior to your visit. Otherwise, the staff at the Bay Check In will get you started. Visit guest services to get your playing card and load it with games. Next, grab a basket and scan your card at a ball dispenser to fill up. Don’t mix your golf balls with anyone else’s though- each is assigned to its player only (remember that micro-chip??). Finally, make your way to your designated bay and scan your first ball. You’re ready to play!
What About Food?
While you bring your “A” game to the range, a friendly bayhost can bring food right to your bay. There’s also private event space for groups looking to dine together before the high-flying fun begins.
Anything Else to Do Besides Golf?
Yep! There’s a LOT for you to do. Activities vary depending on location, but most have video games, a pool table, foosball, big screen TVs and more. The Las Vegas location even has a pool! Check online before you go to see what special features are available at the location you want.

If you’re planning a visit to Topgolf, download the App before you go. It will let you track your game history and stats, reload your player card, update you on events, news and offers and allow you to see where you rank on the leaderboards. The app will even let you stream audio from any Topgolf TV to your phone!
